The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team started out strong on the road on Saturday at Missouri-St. Louis, but it couldn't hold on for 40 minutes. The Tritons defeated the Prairie Stars in St. Louis, Mo. by an 85-56 margin.

The Prairie Stars led 16-15 after one quarter, and they then opened the second quarter on a 9-2 run to grab an eight-point lead. Missouri-St. Louis took over the game after that however. The Tritons outscored UIS 20-3 for the rest of the second quarter, and their offense scored 48 in the second half as they pulled away.

Missouri-St. Louis won the game in the paint. It shot 67.5 percent and scored 54 points inside the paint. UIS shot 35.7 percent close to the basketball, and had 20 points. Missouri-St. Louis also won the rebounding battle by a 36-25 margin.

Makenna Fee led UIS with 18 points and eight rebounds. She made seven-of-10 from the field for the game.
Lauren Ladowski had 12 points and five assists, and
Malea Jackson was in double-figures with 11 points. UIS was 21-of-26 from the free-throw line, including six-of-six by Ladowski.

UIS falls to 4-4 on the season. The Prairie Stars started a three-game homestand next week with a Tuesday game versus Indianapolis.
