The University of Illinois Springfield indoor track and field team opened up its 2021 season on Saturday in Allendale, Mich. At the Bob Eubanks Open.
Blake Jones set a NCAA provisional mark and was one of two UIS winners on the day.

Jones set a qualifying mark in the 3,000m event, which he won with a time of 8:08.56. That mark set a new school record by 27 seconds. He won the race by nearly three seconds, and was just five seconds shy of an automatic qualifying mark.

In the men's 5,000m,
Ryan Jones was first with a mark of 15:15.18. In the 800m run on the men's side,
Jacob Landon was third with a time of 1:58.48.

On the women's side,
Gloria Esarco had the best showing with a fifth-place finish in the 3,000m. She had a time of 10:12.53, one spot ahead of
Savannah Brannan.
Libby Price came in sixth in the 800m with a time of 2:27.80
