Despite the short season, University of Illinois Springfield spring student-athletes captured four GLVC Player of the Week awards in February and March. That pushed the total of weekly honors won by Prairie Stars during the school year to 13.
 
The UIS softball team led the way in the spring with two honorees in Lakyn Wagoner and Payton Long.
 
Wagoner was named the GLVC Player of the Week on Feb. 17. She batted .538 that week with a 1.000 slugging percentage, and had 10 RBI, four runs, and two stolen bases. Wagoner hit a walk-off homer that week, and became the school's career leader in doubles.
 
Long was named the GLVC Pitcher of the Week on March 2. She went 2-0 during that week and had a 0.00 ERA in 7 2/3 innings. Opponents batted just .214 off of her, and she struck out nine batters. Among her wins was a relief victory over nationally-ranked Winona State.
 
Baseball's Zion Pettigrew was honored as the GLVC Player of the Week on Feb. 24. He batted .500 during the team's West Virginia road trip, including a .875 slugging percentage and .579 on-base percentage. He had seven runs, seven RBI, and two homers in four games.
 
For the men's tennis team, Menno Servaes collected GLVC Player of the Week accolades on March 10. In the team's dual match against William Woods, Servaes went 2-0, with wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles.
 
In the fall, UIS captured five GLVC Player of the Week honors from men's soccer's Mario Falsone and Pijus Petkevicius, volleyball's Jailyn Borum, men's cross country's Blake Jones, and women's cross country's Taryn Christy.
 
In the winter, Daniel Soetan won two GLVC Men's Basketball Player of the Week awards, making him the lone Prairie Star player with multiple honors this year. Men's basketball player Keymonta Johnson also won once, and women's basketball player Jasmine Sangster captured the honor one time.
