The University of Illinois Springfield softball team extended its winning streak to four games on Sunday after a doubleheader sweep over Purdue Northwest in Chatham, Ill.

UIS won the opener by a 7-5 score, including the Prairie Stars plating six in the first three innings.
Payton Long threw 4 2/3 innings for the win, and she struck out eight in the contest.
Lindsay LaDere led the offense with two hits, two RBI, and one run.
Carly Chovanec also had a pair of hits.

In the second, UIS won by an 11-10 margin. The Prairie Stars got homers from Chovanec,
Jillian Mathis, and
Carolyn Franke. Mathis had the game-winning two-run single in the bottom of the sixth

Mathis finished with three RBI and Franke had two. Chovanec,
Bree Derhake, and
Danielle Dennis all had two runs. Derhake was the team's hit leader with three.

UIS improves to 8-4 on the season. The Prairie Stars will be back in action next Sunday at Northwest Missouri.
