The University of Illinois Springfield softball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader at Northwest Missouri on Sunday. The Prairie Stars fell 9-8 in game one, and 14-6 in the second game.

UIS had a seventh-inning rally in game one that tied the game at eight. The Prairie Stars trailed 8-4, but a pair of two-run homers by
Lindsay LaDere and
Danielle Dennis knotted the score.

In the bottom half of the inning though, two singles and two walks helped Northwest Missouri have a walk-off victory.

LaDere hit two home runs in the game and finished with three hits and five RBI. Dennis and
Jess Jacobs also had two hits, and
Bree Derhake scored twice.

In the second game, Northwest Missouri had a 10-0 lead going into the fifth inning. UIS rallied with six runs in the top half of that inning, but the Bearcats ended the game by the run-rule with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Dennis continued her hot hitting with a homer, three hits, and three RBI.
Carolyn Franke had a pair of hits in the second game.

UIS falls to 9-6 on the season. The Prairie Stars will start a three-game series at Missouri Western on Monday.
