The University of Illinois Springfield softball team improved to 5-2 on the year with a 9-1 victory on Friday afternoon over Hillsdale as part of the Lewis Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill.
Â
Addison Bryant picked up her fourth win of the season after throwing a complete game. In five innings, she allowed just two hits. She walked three and struck out three.
Â
Offensively, UIS's speed caused havoc in the game. The Prairie Stars stole seven bases, including four by
Bree Derhake, and that speed helped force three Hillsdale errors. UIS scored at least one run in each inning, and the game ended by the run-rule after
Danielle Dennis hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth.
Â
Derhake finished with three runs, and
Lakyn Wagoner had two runs and a RBI. All nine UIS starters had a hit in the game, and Wagoner finished with a pair of singles.
Â
UIS will conclude play at the tournament on Saturday, with contests against Ashland and Grand Valley State.
