Tehya Fortune Sets UIS Career Three-Point Record In Loss To Southern Indiana

The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team fell to Southern Indiana on Thursday night in Springfield, Ill. by a 69-61 score.
 
UIS's defense held the Screaming Eagles to just 29.7 percent shooting in the first half, and the Prairie Stars led 32-24 at the break. Southern Indiana shot 50 percent though in the second half, and outscored UIS by a 45-29 margin in the final 20 minutes.
 
The Prairie Stars led for most of the third quarter, but the Screaming Eagles went on a 10-2 run in the two minutes of the period to grab a 47-45 lead. UIS tied the game early in the fourth quarter, but Southern Indiana went on a 6-0 run and never trailed again.
 
Tehya Fortune made a three-pointer with 2:39 remaining in the first quarter. It was her 162nd career three-pointer, more than any Prairie Stars player before her. She finished the game with nine points, five rebounds, and a team-high three assists.
 
Jasmine Sangster led the Prairie Stars with 16 points, followed by Katelyn Rosner with 13. Rosner also led the team with seven rebounds and two blocked shots. Malea Jackson had nine points and five rebounds, and Makenna Fee had eight points and seven boards.
 
UIS falls to 9-16 overall and 4-13 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars are on the road for the rest of the season, starting with a trip to McKendree on Saturday.
