The University of Illinois Springfield women's cross country team had its best finish at a GLVC Championship event by coming in fourth at the event on Saturday in Elsah, Ill.
Taryn Christy and
Gloria Esarco earned all-GLVC honors at the event.

UIS, which was sixth in 2019, improved by two positions this year. It collected 86 points at the race, and finished just one point shy of defending champion Southern Indiana. Southwest Baptist won the conference title with 53 points, and Drury was runner-up with 72 points.

Christy finished third individually for the second straight season. In three years, she has now won three cross country all-GLVC honors, and has finished in the top-four each time. Christy finished the 6,000m race in a time of 21:29, the fastest-time for a Prairie Stars at the GLVC Championships.

Gloria Esarco won her first all-GLVC cross country honor after finishing 11th. She completed the race in a time of 22:13.
Sydney Huffman just missed all-conference accolades with a 16th-place showing. Her time was 22:40.

Savannah Brannan was fourth on the team and 23rd overall with a mark of 22:59. Rounding out the scoring was
Lexi Throne who was 34th with a time of 23:28.
Alexa Thomsen and
Breanna Chandler also finished in the top-50 for the Prairie Stars.
Brannan was announced after the event as the team's honoree for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award.
