The University of Illinois Springfield women's basketball team had a late comeback attempt against Indianapolis on Saturday, but it fell a few points short. The Prairie Stars fell in Indianapolis, Ind. by a score of 67-63.

The two teams had a defensive battle in the first half, with Indianapolis leading 27-26 at halftime. The game remained close for the first half of the third quarter, with UIS leading 35-34 midway through the quarter. Indianapolis went on a 15-6 run though the rest of the period to take an eight-point lead into the final period.

The Greyhounds extended that lead to 13 in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter. UIS had an 11-0 run, with
Jasmine Sangster sparking the comeback attempt. Sangster hit a three-pointer to start the run, and scored nine points in the spurt to pull the Prairie Stars within two with 1:42 left.

UIS pulled within two on three other occasions, but Indianapolis made seven-of-eight free throws to hold on for the win.

The Prairie Stars held Indianapolis to just 17 field goals in the game, but the Greyhounds made three more three-pointers than UIS, and 11 more free throws. UIS had a +3 rebounding margin, and +3 turnover margin. The Prairie Stars defense had five blocks and 13 steals.

Lauren Ladowski led UIS with 13 points and three assists. Sangster collected 11 points, and
Tehya Fortune had 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Myka Roth had a team-high +13 plus/minus while she was in the game.
Malea Jackson had four of the team's steals.

UIS falls to 5-6 overall and 0-3 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will return home on Thursday with a 5:30 p.m. game against William Jewell.
