UIS Volleyball Finishes Capital Classic With A 2-2 Mark

Box Score The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team finished the 2019 Capital Classic, Presented by Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn Express, in Springfield, Ill. with a 2-2 record. The Prairie Stars defeated Southern Indiana in straight sets on Saturday, before falling to Winona State for the second time in two days.
 
UIS defeated Southern Indiana by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-23. Southern Indiana finished with more kills in the match, but the Prairie Stars had five more service aces and four more blocks. UIS also had fewer errors, including three less hitting errors and six fewer service errors.
 
Megan Krasowski led the offense with 10 kills, and Alli Splitt had eight kills and a .800 hitting percentage, and she also led the team with four blocks. Becca Blakeley collected 29 assists, and Jailyn Borum had a team-high eight digs.
 
In the final match of the tournament, Winona State defeated the Prairie Stars by scores of 25-20, 25-21, and 25-21.
 
Hannah Nicolaisen and Krasowski both had big offensive games. Nicolaisen had 14 kills and hit .353, while Krasowski had 12 kills and a .379 hitting percentage. Blakely recorded 35 assists in the match. Defensively, Borum had a team-high 18 digs.
 
UIS will take its 2-2 record to the UIndy Invitational next Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.
