The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team traveled to fourth-ranked Grand Valley State on Tuesday for a non-conference game. The Prairie Stars fell to last year's NCAA Division II finalist by a 6-0 score.

Grand Valley State scored in the seventh minute, but both teams were scoreless for nearly the next half hour. The Lakers finally got one more goal in the first half in the 36th minute.

In the second half, the Lakers pulled away by scoring three times in the first nine minutes of the period. Grand Valley State added one more goal late for the final tally.

UIS had three shots in the game, including shots on goal by Ally Fischer and Amanda Meyer. Hailey Collins and Amanda Finnell both made their collegiate debuts in goal, and both made three saves.

UIS is now 4-2-0 on the season. The Prairie Stars resume GLVC play on Friday at Missouri S&T.
