Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Continues Undefeated GLVC Start On Sunday

The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team continued its best GLVC start in program history with a 2-1 road win over Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday. The victory improved the Prairie Stars to 3-0-0 in conference play, just one of three conference teams that started the GLVC season with three straight wins.

Both teams scored once in the first half of play. UIS got the scoring started in the 21st minute when Kayla Meyer put the ball in the net after the Tritons couldn't clear the ball after a corner kick. Lauren Griffin earned an assist on the play. The Prairie Stars lead lasted just over eight minutes until Missouri-St. Louis scored off a rebound in the 30th minute.

Neither team scored again until less than eight minutes remaining in the game. UIS had just its third corner kick of the game in the 83rd minute, and Maggie Juhlin scored after receiving a pass from Griffin. Missouri-St. Louis had two shots after that, including one off a corner kick, but it couldn't put either shot on goal.

UIS had a 13-4 advantage in shots on goal in the game, despite Missouri-St. Louis had a 60%-40% edge in possession time. Bailey Cross made three saves in the game to pick up the win in goal. Juhlin finished with six total shots, and four of those shots were on goal.

UIS is now 4-1-0 on the season. The Prairie Stars will have their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday at last year's NCAA finalist, Grand Valley State.
