The University of Illinois Springfield men's soccer team prevailed at home on Thursday afternoon against Parkside with a 1-0 overtime victory.

The two teams played 90 minutes of scoreless soccer to start the game. UIS outshot Parkside 13-10 in regulation, including a 7-4 margin in shots on goal.

In the extra period, the Prairie Stars needed less than two minutes for the game-winner.
Adrian Ortega took a shot from close range which the Rangers goalie saved. The save got him off-balance though, allowing
Dan Mahony to head in the rebound in the right-side of the goal.

Pijus Petkevicius earned the win in goal, making four saves in the game.
Mario Falsone and
Quentin Reese both had three shots.

UIS improves to 2-1-0 on the year. The Prairie Stars have their conference opener on Sunday at Lewis.
