The top University of Illinois Springfield track runners headed out to California this week, with several runners in the Bryan Clay Invitational, and one runner at the Cal State LA Twilight Open.

At the Bryan Clay Invitational,
Blake Jones won his heat of the 10,000m with a time of 30:28.49. That mark is currently the fastest in the GLVC this season and a NCAA provisional mark. On the women's side,
Taryn Christy also hit a NCAA provisional mark in the 10,000m. She finished seventh in her heat with a mark of 36:18.73.

Other 10,000m times for the men were
Tyler Hiserote with a 32:26.27, and
Ryan Stark with a mark of 33:07.81. In the 3,000m steeplechase,
Kenton Wilson ran a time of 9:47.18.

At the Twilight Open,
Gloria Esarco ran an 800m time of 2:18.50, which is fifth-best in the GLVC this year. She placed fourth in the finals of that competition.

The UIS men's and women's track and field teams will have their final tuneup before conference next Friday at the True Blue Twilight in Jacksonville, Ill.
