The University of Illinois Springfield baseball team needed two extra innings, but it was able to earn a road victory at Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday afternoon by a 9-6 score.

UIS trailed 3-2 after three innings, but scored a single run in each of the next four innings and had a 6-4 lead going into the ninth. The Tritons had a two-out rally though and tied the game. Neither team scored in the tenth, with both teams stranding one runner.

In the 11th,
John Sechen opened the inning with a walk. He advanced to second on a passed ball, and went to third on a sacrifice bunt.
Chris Monroe then drove him in with a single. UIS added two more runs.

In the bottom half of the inning, Missouri-St. Louis got two runners on, but
Trent Sidwell got a flyout and strikeout to end the game.

Zach Speaker had a double and triple, and drove in two runners.
Brandon Bannon had two hits and two runs. Monroe scored three times, Sechen had two runs, and
Ryan Fish scored twice.

UIS had a bullpen day on the mound, using nine pitchers.
Brayden Jensen earned the win, and Sidwell got the save.

Colton Thompson, and Sidwell also pitched a scoreless inning. UIS pitchers struck out 16 batters on the day.

The Prairie Stars improve to 25-11-1 on the season. UIS returns to the UIS Baseball Field this Friday with an important three-game series against Southern Indiana.
