The University of Illinois Springfield track and field teams started their outdoor seasons on Friday at the Washington Invitational Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Mo.

The Prairie Stars competed in three events on the evening.
Taryn Christy led the way by finishing sixth in the 5,000m race with a time of 17:30. Other top finishers in that race, which included 164 runners, were
Savannah Brannan in 47th place with a mark of 18:30, and
Gloria Esarco who finished 66th with a time of 18:54.

On the men's side,
Blake Jones had the best finish by coming in 21st in the 5,000m with a mark of 14:59.
Tyler Hiserote and
Kenton Wilson both broke 15:30 and finished in the top-60. In the 10,000m,
Trevor Dunkel led the team with a mark of 33:25.
Adam Robson and
Thomas Wuchte also finished in under 34 seconds.

UIS will be in action again on April 6 at the Big Blue Alumni Meet in Decatur, Ill.
