The No. 4 University of Illinois Springfield baseball team clinched a second straight GLVC series victory on Sunday in Kansas City, Mo. The Prairie Stars won the rubber game of the three-game series against Rockhurst by a 13-2 margin.

The game was a pitching duel early on with UIS having a 2-1 lead after four innings. The Prairie Stars offense scored in each of the final innings after that, including four runs in both the fifth and sixth innings, to pull away for the victory.

Justin Revels earned the win, going five innings and allowing four hits and one run.
Trent Sidwell,
Joe Dittmar, and
Tyler Horvath pitched the final three innings and combined to allow just two hits and one unearned run.

Offensively,
Chris Mathieu had two hits, three RBI, and a run scored.
Austin Alderman led the team with four hits, and
Chris Monroe and
Ruben Markham each had two.
Ben Schanding,
Zach Speaker, and
Nick Mayerhofer each scored twice.
Dylan Gilbert, Monroe, and Markham had multiple RBI.

UIS is now 13-4-1 on the season and 4-2 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will start a five-game homestand on Wednesday with a doubleheader against Quincy.
