The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team won five out of six singles matches to defeat Nebraska-Kearney by a 5-2 score on Thursday in Hilton Head Island, S.C.

The Prairie Stars lost all three doubles matches, but quickly bounced back in singles play. Two of the biggest wins came from
Kena Bere and
Nethra Thenappan at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively. Both players lost their second sets by a 6-1 margin, but they were able to win the tiebreaker for crucial team points.
Neha Mokhasi won No. 1 singles by 7-5, 6-2 margin,
Maegan Flight captured the No. 3 singles by a 6-1, 6-1 score, and
Kaitlyn Thornhill won No. 5 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-3.

UIS ends its Spring Break trip with a perfect 3-0 record. The Prairie Stars are now 9-2 on the season.
