The University of Illinois Springfield softball team split its play on Friday in Peoria, Ill. The Prairie Stars fell to Emporia State, but rebounded for a win over Lindenwood.

UIS made a costly error that cost the team in an 8-5 loss to Emporia State. That error extended the seventh inning, and Emporia State made the Prairie Stars pay with a three-run double that broke a 5-5 tie.

Bree Derhake led the offense with two hits, three RBI, and two runs.
Morgan Edwards had two hits and two RBI.
Lakyn Wagoner scored twice, and
Madi Torry and
Hunter Niebrugge each had two hits.

In the second game, UIS had a late rally for an 8-6 win over Lindenwood. The Lady Lions led 6-4 in the fifth inning, but
Carolyn Franke hit a three-run homer to put the Prairie Stars ahead.
Jaycee Craver didn't allow a run for the final three innings, and she won her 42nd career game, tying the UIS program record.

Wagoner hit a two-run homer and had two hits in the game. Franke scored twice in the game.

The Prairie Stars are now 8-8 on the season after finishing 2-2 at the Springfield Invitational. UIS will be off until a March 11 doubleheader at Southwest Baptist.
