Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Daniel Soetan Scores 20 Points In Loss To Southern Indiana

The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team couldn't keep pace with a hot shooting Southern Indiana team on Thursday evening at TRAC as the Prairie Stars fell by a 93-83 score.

UIS trailed 45-38 at halftime, but went on a 9-2 run to start the second half to tie the game at 47. Southern Indiana responded though, scoring the next eight points, and the Prairie Stars could not catch up the rest of the way.

Southern Indiana shot 52.5 percent from the field in the game, including 45.5 percent from three-point range. The Screaming Eagles also made 19-of-22 free throws. UIS made 11 three-pointers and shot 45.9 percent from the field, but that wasn't enough for a victory.

Daniel Soetan led the offense after consistently getting to the rim and finishing with 20 points. Cole Harter had 14 points, and led the team with six rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. Peyton Allen finished with 13 points and had a team-high three steals. Gilwan Nelson was also in double-figure scoring with 14.

UIS is now 14-13 on the year and 7-10 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will end their season on Saturday against nationally-ranked Bellarmine.
