The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team came up one win short on Sunday against Rockhurst as the Prairie Stars fell by a 4-3 margin.
Rockhurst won the doubles points by taking two of the three matches. UIS won its match at No. 1 singles as
Sam Clarke and
Tommy Martinez won by a 6-1 margin.
The two teams split their singles matches, with UIS winning at No. 1, No. 3, and No. 6. Clarke won the top position in a three-set contest. Martinez won at No. 3 singles, dropping just four sets. Lapsley captured the final singles contest by scores of 6-1, 7-5.
The closest match that gave UIS a chance to change the outcome came at No. 2 singles where
Logan Burgess Hayes went to a third set before falling 6-4.
UIS will be in action again next Friday at Hillsdale.
