The University of Illinois Springfield women's tennis team opened up its spring season on Friday afternoon with a 4-3 victory over Maryville.

UIS opened up the event by winning the doubles point after winning two of the three matches. Number one singles turned out to be big when
Neha Mokhasi and
Ashley Long won by a 7-6 score. UIS also won at the number two position when the team of
Kena Bere and
Kaitlyn Thornhill had a 6-1 win.

The Prairie Stars and Maryville split the singles match. UIS won at the two through four positions with straight set wins by Long,
Maegan Flight, and Bere.

UIS improves to 4-0 in duals on the season. The Prairie Stars will be in action again on Saturday, Feb. 23, at William Jewell.
