The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team earned a regional victory on Friday afternoon in St. Louis with a 6-1 win over Maryville.

UIS swept the two doubles matches that were completely, and then won every singles match except for the No. 1 position.

The tennis pairs of
Sam Clarke and
Tommy Martinez (number one doubles), and
Alex Chan and
Matthew Lapsley (number two doubles) each won their matches by identical 6-1 scores.

In singles play, Clarke (number two singles) and
Oscar Toro (number five singles) each won in straight sets, and each only dropped four games. Other singles winners were Martinez at the number three position, Chan at the number four position, and Lapsley at the number six spot.

UIS will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23, with a road dual at William Jewell.
