The Matt Brock era for the University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team begins this week at the Prairie Stars Tipoff Classic. The fourth head coach in program history will start his UIS career at home against Ohio Valley and Parkside.

UIS has finished each of the last two seasons with a 14-14 overall record. The Prairie Stars will have a new look this season after losing 59.8 percent of its scoring and 64.1 percent of its rebounding from last year. 

UIS does return six players who saw action last season, as well as one redshirt. Leading those players is Daniel Soetan, who was named to the 2019 GLVC All-Defensive team. Added to the mix are three junior transfers and three freshmen, many of which are expected to get minutes in their first seasons in a Prairie Stars uniform.
