The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team has its toughest challenge of the young season on Wednesday night when it faces Northwest Missouri, the number one team in NCAA Division II.

The Prairie Stars are off to their second-best start in program history, and their best start at the NCAA level. UIS improved to 5-0 on the season last week with a 98-64 victory over Fontbonne.

Last year's national champion is 6-0 on the year, including a win last week against GLVC's William Jewell by a 102-59 margin. The Bearcats have won 44 straight games, and 19 straight at home.

In 2018-19, UIS and Northwest Missouri met in Kansas City, with the Bearcats winning by an 85-66 score.
