Women's Soccer Faces Two Of The Top-Four Teams In The GLVC This Week

The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team starts a challenging four-game road trip this week. The Prairie Stars will be facing three of the top-four teams in the GLVC over the next four games, including two this week in Southern Indiana on Friday night, and McKendree on Sunday afternoon.
 
UIS (6-6-0, 5-4-0)
UIS went 1-1-0 last week, falling to Bellarmine by a 2-0 score before a double overtime win over Indianapolis by a 2-1 margin. The win over the Greyhounds was the program's fifth GLVC victory of the year, one shy of the program record.
 
In GLVC-only games, UIS is currently 13th in offense with 0.78 goals a game. The Prairie Stars are 11th with a 1.09 GAA. The team is 5-0 when scoring one or more goals, and 5-0 when allowing just one or fewer scores.
 
Maggie Juhlin is second in GLVC contests with four goals, one behind the leader. She also ranks in the top-10 in points, and leads the league with four game-winning goals. Lauren Griffin is second in the league with three assists in GLVC games.
 
About Southern Indiana (8-3-0, 6-3-0)
Southern Indiana saw its season-best five-game winning streak snapped last time out, as it fell to Rockhurst by a 2-0 score. Prior to that game, it had shutout five straight opponents.
 
The Screaming Eagles rank fourth in the GLVC in both offensive and defensive statistics. They are scoring 1.33 goals per conference game, and have a 0.67 GAA in that span.
 
On the season, Maggie Winter and Katlyn Andres are the team's scoring leaders with four goals apiece. Madelyne Juenger has a team-high four assists. Maya Etienne is the team's top goalie with a .895 save percentage and a 0.56 GAA.
 
UIS vs. Southern Indiana Series History
UIS is 0-8-2 all-time against Southern Indiana, including a 0-5-0 mark in Evansville, Ind. Last year on the road, the Prairie Stars lost to the Screaming Eagles by a 1-0 margin.
 
About McKendree (9-2-1, 7-1-1)
McKendree saw an eight-game unbeaten streak snapped last week with a 1-0 setback against Rockhurst. The team bounced back though with a 1-0 win over William Jewell.
 
The Bearcats have the top defense in the GLVC, allowing just three goals in nine conference games. Offensively, they are tied for fifth with 1.22 goals a game.
 
The defense is led by Zoe Brochu, who has a conference-best .929 save percentage in league games. She is second with a 0.33 GAA. Offensively, Sydnee Carroll leads the team on the season with three goals and seven points.
 
UIS vs. McKendree Series History
UIS is 1-8-0 all-time against McKendree, including a 0-4-0 mark in Lebanon, Ill. McKendree has won four straight games in the series, with the last three, including the 2018 meeting, all being decided by a 1-0 margin.

GLVC Standings
UIS enters play this week in a three-way tie for seventh-place in the GLVC standings. Southern Indiana is currently fourth, and McKendree is in second, ½ game behind league leader Rockhurst.
