Men's Tennis Wins First Dual Of 2019-20 Season

The University of Illinois Springfield men's tennis team won its first dual of the 2019-20 season with a 4-3 win over Purdue Northwest. Both teams won three singles matches, but UIS won the match after capturing two of three doubles contests.
 
Alex Chan, Philip Rydell, and Oscar Toro all went 2-0 on the day. Chan and Rydell had a 6-4 at No. 2 doubles, and Toro teamed up with Tomas Martinez for a 6-2 win over No. 3 doubles.
 
In singles, Chan won his No. 2 match and Toro won his No. 5 match in straight sets. Rydell then had a big victory at No. 6 singles, winning the third and deciding set by a 6-2 margin.
 
UIS will ends its fall season next Friday at home with duals against Olivet Nazarene and Lindenwood-Belleville.
