The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball team lost a heartbreaker on Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis by a 3-2 score. The set scores were 25-17, 12-25, 20-25, 25-15, 15-13.

UIS's defense was the difference in every set. In the two sets the Prairie Stars won, Indianapolis hit under .100, but in the other three sets, the Greyhounds were above .300 each time.

In the deciding fifth set, both teams struggled scoring on its serve. The two teams were tied at 12 when Indianapolis scored two straight, breaking a trend of 10 straight sideouts. Two more sideouts followed after that, allowing the Greyhounds to win by a two-point margin.

Both teams recorded 62 kills, and had over 70 digs in the match. UIS had a 15-5 advantage in blocks, but Indianapolis had five more service aces.

Brianna Bush led UIS with 19 kills, and she hit .410 on the day. She also had seven blocks and 22.5 points.
Hannah Nicolaisen collected 14 kills, and
Alli Splitt and
Rachel Cobert both just missed double-figures with nine. Splitt had a team-high eight blocks.
Jailyn Borum had a team-high 18 digs, and Cobert and
Jenny Rush were also in double-figures.
Becca Blakeley led the squad with 47 assists.

UIS falls to 12-7 overall and 4-3 in GLVC play. The Prairie Stars will compete in the Midwest Regional Crossover next Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.
