Women's Soccer Hosts Bellarmine and Indianapolis For Homecoming Weekend

The University of Illinois Springfield women's soccer team looks to regain its winning formula this week with a pair of home games, starting with Friday's 7:30 p.m. Homecoming Contest against Bellarmine. The Prairie Stars will also host Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m.
 
UIS (5-5-0, 4-3-0)
UIS has dropped three straight games, including a pair last week against Quincy and Truman State. The score in all three contests was 2-0, despite the Prairie Stars outshooting those three opponents by a 37-28 margin.
 
UIS is currently 10th in the GLVC by averaging 0.90 goals a game, and it is 13th with a 1.69 GAA. The Prairie Stars are 1-5 this season when allowing two or more goals, and 4-0 when giving up under that mark.
 
Maggie Juhlin is the team's offensive leader with five goals and 11 points, and Lauren Griffin leads the squad with four assists. Bailey Cross has started nine games and has a 1.22 GAA and a .738 save percentage.
 
About Bellarmine (7-3-0, 4-3-0)
Bellarmine has won four out its last five GLVC games, including two wins in double overtime. Last time it, it had its loss in that span with a 1-0 setback against Lindenwood.
 
The Knights are ninth in the GLVC with 1.00 goals per game, and it is second with a 0.48 GAA. Bellarmine has recorded six shutouts in ten games.
 
Isabella Zamborini leads the team with three goals and seven points. Elyssa Francis has a 0.48 GAA and a .848 save percentage in goal.
 
UIS vs. Bellarmine Series History
UIS has never defeated Bellarmine in 10 previous meetings, including a 0-4-0 mark at Kiwanis Stadium. Despite that record, the last six games have all been competitive as they have been decided by just a single goal. Last season's game in Louisville, Ky. was decided by a 1-0 score.
 
About Indianapolis (7-1-1, 5-1-1)
Indianapolis is one of the hottest teams in the GLVC, winning its last four contests and outscoring its opponents by a 7-2 margin. Last weekend, it defeated Lindenwood by a 3-1 score and Missouri-St. Louis by a 2-1 margin.
 
The Greyhounds are ranked in the top-four in the GLVC in both offensive and defensive statistics. They are fourth with 2.00 goals per game, and fourth with a 0.64 GAA.
 
Amanda Meyer, Lexi Turner, and Maria Herrero have all scored three goals, and three other players have two on the year. Sophia Saucerman is the top goalie, having a 0.81 GAA and a .806 save percentage.

UIS is 1-9-0 all-time against Indianapolis, including a 0-4-0 mark at Kiwanis Stadium.  Last season in Indianapolis, the Greyhounds won by a 2-1 score.

GLVC Standings
UIS is currently tied for sixth in the GLVC Standings, tying with Bellarmine in that spot. Indianapolis is tied for third in the league, 1 ½ game ahead of UIS and Bellarmine.
