The University of Illinois Springfield women's team earned a 7-0 victory over Illinois Wesleyan in its first dual of the 2018-19 season.
 
Kena Bere led the Prairie Stars as she swept her No. 2 singles match, and teamed up with Nethra Thenappan for an 8-2 victory at the No. 1 doubles spot. Hannah Blythe and Kate Dumstorff each lost just two games or less in their singles victory, and they were paired together in an 8-3 doubles win.
 
The other singles victories came from Ashley Long, Thenappan, and Thornhill. The third doubles victory saw Thornhill and Maegan Flight winning in the No. 2 slot.
 
UIS will be back in action on Saturday at Lindenwood.
