WEEKLY REWIND
 
Men's Cross Country
UIS captured fifth place in the 17-team Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 185. Blake Jones claimed 35th with an 8K time of 26 minutes, 18.8 seconds, while breaking the UIS freshman 8K record. Tyler Pasley earned 37th (26:20.4) and broke the UIS sophomore 8K record.
 
Women's Cross Country
The Prairie Stars secured ninth in the 17-team Gil Dodds Invitational on Saturday with a team score of 249 points. Taryn Christy raced to 10th with a 6K time of 22:54.3. The freshman from Geneva clocked the second-fastest 6K time in school history, missing the record by 1.5 seconds. Christy also set the 6K record by a UIS freshman.
 
Volleyball
UIS finished 2-1 in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) action last week. The Prairie Stars took a 26-24, 27-25, 25-19 sweep against Bellarmine University on Tuesday. Alli Splitt led UIS with 12 kills while Taylor Bauer smashed 10 kills. Tiffany Wentworth dished out 33 assists and Jailyn Borum collected 21 digs. Alyssa Hasler recorded six blocks while Bauer and Splitt produced five blocks apiece.
 
The Prairie Stars fell to Rockhurst University, ranked No. 12 in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division II poll, in a 25-13, 25-20, 16-25, 21-25, 15-13 decision on Friday. Brianna Bush paced UIS with 15 kills while Rachel Cobert tallied 13 kills. Splitt contributed 12 kills and seven assists. Wentworth set up 50 assists and Borum scattered 24 digs.
 
UIS closed out with a 26-24, 25-19, 25-14 victory against William Jewell College on Saturday. Bauer recorded 11 kills and Wentworth dished out 35 assists. Wentworth finished the week with 118 assists.
 
Men's Soccer
The Prairie Stars went 1-0-1 in GLVC action last week. UIS secured a 1-0 victory against Maryville University on Friday. Mario Gonzalez provided a game-winner with his first collegiate goal during the 59th minute of the match. Fernando Sanz de Galdeano and Mario Falsone provided assists on the play. Pijus Petkevicius put together his first collegiate shutout.
 
The Prairie Stars clashed to a scoreless draw with Rockhurst University on Sunday. Petkevicius came away with another shutout.
 
Falsone is tied for third among UIS Division II career leaders in both points (23) and assists (5). Petkevicius is tied for third in UIS Division II history with two career shutouts.
 
Women's Soccer
UIS suffered a 2-0 loss against Ferris State University on Tuesday. The Prairie Stars took a 1-0 victory against Maryville University during Friday's GLVC opener. Taylor Mraz found the back of the net with 1:29 remaining in regulation off a pass from Paloma Guijarro. Guijarro recorded her second shutout of the season. UIS was handed a 3-0 loss to Rockhurst University on Sunday.

Women's Golf
In a meet consisting of eight nationally-ranked teams and two more teams receiving votes, UIS placed 13th with a 54-hole score of 961 during the two-day UIndy Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday. Espinosa tied for 48th with a 54-hole score of 233 on the par-72 layout at Prairie View Golf Club.

Friday's volleyball match against Missouri-St. Louis is the Make-A-Wish game and the Pack The Prairie game.
