SPRINGFIELD, MO – The University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS) softball earned two wins during Sunday's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) doubleheader against Drury University.

UIS (16-9, 3-1) topped Drury (8-12, 1-5) with final victories of 3-2 and 11-7.

GAME 1: UIS 3, DRURY 2
Ali Haesele went 3-for-4, posting two doubles.Â
Erin Stroup provided an RBI double, also going 3-for-4.Â
Lakyn Wagoner and
Haley Inman each finished 2-for-4 while
Bree Derhake and
Calla Wickenhauser added singles to round out UIS's 12 hits.

Drury's Jacy Ummel and Hailly Greenough each recorded a two-base hit, with the prior going 1-for-3 and the latter finishing 2-for 3. Greenough's double brought in both of Drury's runs. Drury put together six hits.

Pitching the first sixth innings, Haesele (10-4) struck out four hitters, walking only one batter, allowing two runs out of six hits.Â
Jaycee Craver came into the game to pitch a scoreless inning, tallying another strikeout and issuing one hit. Haesele picked up the win and Craver collected her fourth save of the season.

Kasey Cazares (2-3) took the loss. She pitched seven innings where she gave up twelve hits, allowed three runs and fanned two batters.

The game remained a score of 0-0 until the top of the fifth inning when Stroup doubled in Haesele. Â

In the sixth, Drury went ahead as Greenough drove in two runs, Ummel and Megan Tersteeg, with her double.

UIS came back in the seventh inning when Wagoner hit a single, allowing Haesele to score. Further in the inning, Inman cracked another single for the UIS and brought Derhake in to score.

GAME 2: UIS 11, DRURY 7
Inman led the Prairie Stars, going 4-for-4 at the plate. Derhake went 4-for-5 while
Hunter Niebrugge finished 2-for-3.
Hannah Kain, going 2-for-4, contributed a double to the team while Wagoner also tallied a double for the team.
Calla Wickenhauser notched a single to round out UIS's 14 hits.

Ummel went 4-for-5 with a double for the Panthers. Greenough finished 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI doubles and Megan Holmes belted a three-run double. Natalie Lopez went 2-for-3 and Emily Stringer went 2-for-4. The Panthers notched 14 hits.

In three innings,
Jaycee Craver recorded three strikeouts and two walks, ultimately giving up three runs on five hits. The junior from Pekin, IL returned to the game during the seventh and picked up her fifth save of the season. After Craver started the game,
Rachel Goff took over during the third inning. Goff conceded two walks and scattered three runs on four hits in one and two-thirds innings.
Brey Genenbacher (1-0) tallied her first win of the season. She gave up a walk and yielded one run on five hits in two and one-third innings.Â

For Drury, Greenough pitched the first three innings, striking out three batters, giving up one walk and allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits. Madison Resch (2-6) was tagged with the loss after pitching the final four innings. She fanned two hitters and surrendered five runs (two earned) on eight hits.

In the first inning, Greenough doubled to right field, receiving an RBI as Ummel went in to score.

Quickly in the second inning, Wickenhauser tied up the game for the Prairie Stars. Inman stole second and Drury's shortstop made a fielding error, allowing Wickenhauser to score. Niebrugge then connected for a single, allowing Inman to reach third base. She was soon able to score due to another fielding error.

In the third inning, UIS was able to gain four more runs. Wickenhauser reached on a fielder's choice, but Wagoner was able to score after a fielding error was made by Drury's shortstop.Â
Erin Stroup was also able to score off an Inman single due to an error made by the center fielder. Niebrugge singled to right field, bringing in Wickenhauser. Inman was then able to score off a wild pitch.
Drury was able to bring in two runs within the third inning. Greenough's double to center field brought in Ummel to score. On a fielder's choice, Hannah Hearst drove in Madison Hecker on a fielder's choice.

Drury evened the score at 6-all in the fourth as Holmes produced a three-run double.

UIS plated three runs in the fifth. A fielding error at first base by Drury allowed Inman to score after Niebrugge to reach on an error-sacrifice bunt.
Morgan Edwards grounded out to the second baseman to bring in
Natalie Cokel to score. Haesele also grounded out to the second baseman, but Niebrugge was able to make it home to score for UIS.Â

Ummel hit a single to center field in the fifth inning, allowing Natalie Lopez to score a run.

In the sixth inning, Inman singled to right field to send in Wagoner to score.Â
Hannah Kain then doubled to left field and brought in Inman for the final run.

During the seventh, Drury led off the seventh with a pair of singles. Craver then came in to close out the inning on four batters.

The Prairie Stars host the University of Missouri-St. Louis (16-12, 3-3) on Friday at the Land of Lincoln Softball Complex at 11 a.m. for a GLVC doubleheader. UIS then takes on Maryville University (13-10-1, 1-5) in a conference doubleheader on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Chatham, IL.
