LOUISVILLE, KY – Bellarmine University took down the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's basketball team in a 91-44 victory during Saturday's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup.

The Knights (13-9) overwhelmed the Prairie Stars (10-10, 4-8) with their defense. UIS committed 30 turnovers as Bellarmine finished with a 36-10 advantage in points off turnovers. Bellarmine turned the ball over 11 times. The Knights also outscored the Prairie Stars 20-2 on fast-break points.

Jasmine Sangster led UIS with 10 points.
Tehya Fortune and
Katelyn Rosner each scored six points.
Chasitee Shroyer contributed five points.
Destiny Ramsey tallied four points and eight rebounds.
Che Jones and
Grace Weber each provided four points.
Shelbi Patterson added three points and two blocks.
Val Meissner rounded out the UIS scoring effort with two points.

Raven Merriweather paced Bellarmine with 20 points. Breia Torrens recorded 16 points and five steals. Allison Van Dyke produced 13 points and eight rebounds while converting 6-of-8 (75 percent) shots from the field. Katie Downey dished out eight assists and Lauren Deel collected three steals. Bellarmine notched 22 assists.

The Knights outscored the Prairie Stars 54-18 in the paint. Bellarmine recorded 16 offensive rebounds and topped UIS 19-9 on second-chance points.

The Knights drained 35-of-72 (48.6 percent) shots from the field and 6-of-15 (40 percent) attempts from 3-point range. UIS was held to 15-of-51 (29.4 percent) attempts from the floor and 3-of-16 (18.8 percent) from the perimeter.'

Bellarmine sank 15-of-23 (65.2 percent) attempts from the free-throw line while UIS made 11-of-18 (61.1 percent) shots from the charity stripe.

The Knights outrebounded the Prairie Stars by a 43-37 margin.

UIS is scheduled for two GLVC matchups next week. The Prairie Stars encounter the University of Southern Indiana (19-2, 11-1) on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in TRAC. UIS then hosts William Jewell College (10-9, 7-5) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in TRAC.
