ROSEMONT, IL – University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) softball player
Ali Haesele fired a no-hitter to lock up a 3-0 victory against the University of Findlay to wrap up the Lewis Flyers D-2 Midwest Region Dome Invitational on Sunday.

Haesele (4-1) punched out nine batters in seven innings. The only runner she allowed was when Salwa Al-Hajabed struck out but reached first on a wild pitch.

Hannah Kain went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to lead the Prairie Stars (7-2) on offense. The Prairie Stars also received singles from
Lakyn Wagoner,
Haley Inman,
Morgan Edwards,
Jordyn Larsen and
Katie Wooldridge.

Hailey Bryan (1-1) took the loss for Findlay (2-5). She struck out a batter and gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits in two innings. Caragyn Yanek tallied three strikeouts, walked two batters and allowed one run on one hit in three innings. Devyn Zuro surrendered one walk and one in one scoreless inning.

Edwards connected on an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to put the Prairie Stars on the board.

During the second, Haesele knocked in
Breanna Robbins on a sacrifice fly.

Kain smashed a homer on the fourth.

The Prairie Stars make their debut at home next weekend at the Land of Lincoln Softball Complex. UIS hosts Saginaw Valley State University (2-0) in a home doubleheader on Friday at 2 p.m. The Prairie Stars then welcome Purdue Northwest University (4-1) in a doubleheader on Saturday at 2 p.m.
