UIS Drops Exhibition against NCAA Division I's Southeast Missouri State

The University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) women's basketball team fell to NCAA Division I's Southeast Missouri State University in an 82-46 exhibition loss on Tuesday in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
 
Southeast Missouri State (3-5) led 18-7 after the first quarter and 34-18 at halftime. The Redhawks extended their lead to 61-31 after three quarters and outscored the Prairie Stars 21-15 in the fourth quarter.
 
Carson Vance and Myka Roth led UIS with seven points each. Lauren Ladowski contributed six points while tallying team-highs five steals and four assists. Val Meissner, Jasmine Sangster, Brianna Mefford and Lanie Hicks scored five points apiece. Chasitee Shroyer turned in four points while Tehya Fortune rounded out the UIS scoring effort with two points. Fortune and Shroyer led the Prairie Stars with four rebounds apiece.
 
Adrianna Murphy paced the Redhawks with 24 points, 11 rebounds and six assists. Carrie Shephard provided 15 points, converting 5-of-9 (55.6 percent) shots from 3-point range. Taelour Pruitt produced 13 points and hit 5-of-6 (83.3 percent) shots from the field.
 
Southeast Missouri State knocked down 32-of-64 (50 percent) attempts from the floor and 11-of-21 (52.4 percent) shots from the perimeter. UIS made 14-of-53 (26.4 percent) shots from the field and 4-of-19 (21.1 percent) attempts from the perimeter.
 
The Redhawks outrebound the Prairie Stars by a 45-32 margin.
 
UIS drained 14-of-20 (70 percent) shots from the free-throw line while Southeast Missouri State drained 7-of-10 (70 percent) attempts from the perimeter.
 
The Prairie Stars finished minus-one on turnovers. UIS committed 22 turnovers while Southeast Missouri State turned the ball over 21 times.
 
The Prairie Stars, which are currently 1-5, welcome Lincoln Christian University (1-6) on Saturday at 1 p.m. in TRAC.
