Chasitee Shroyer dropped a career-high 18 points during Friday's 91-76 loss to Lindenwood University.
The Freeport native topped her previous scoring record of 13 set last season.
Lindenwood (4-0) held a 26-18 lead after one quarter and a 53-28 advantage at halftime. The Lions continued with a 73-47 lead through three quarters.
"Lindenwood is a talented team and came out with great energy," UIS coach
Mark Kost said. "Our defensive intensity in the first half was not at the level we need to have for success."
UIS (1-2) cut off 11 points from its deficit in the fourth quarter, outscoring Lindenwood 29-18.
"I was pleased to see the fight we showed in the second half. We played with a competitive spirit in the last 15 minutes of the game."
Following Shroyer's scoring effort was
Lauren Ladowski, who contributed 16 points for the Prairie Stars.
Jasmine Sangster provided 11 points. Freshman
Ellie Mitchell broke double-digit scoring for the first time in her career with 10 points while
Tehya Fortune also added 10 points.
Airiana Smith scored six points,
Val Meissner added three points and
Erin Bolskar rounded out the UIS scoring effort with two points.
Ladowski,
Gabrielle Sanders and
Lanie Hicks each shared the team lead with four rebounds. Sanders also collected three steals.
Lindsay Medlin led the way for Lindenwood, notching team-highs of 18 points, eight assists and six rebounds. She hit 7-of-10 (70 percent) shots from the field and 4-of-5 (80 percent) attempts from three-point range.
Kallie Bildner produced 16 points, knocking down 7-of-9 (77.8 percent) shots from the floor. Devin Fuhring tallied 11 points and five rebounds while Lexie Moe also turned in 11 points. Sara Ross paced the Lions with six rebounds.
Lindenwood held a 12-7 advantage on steals. The Lions outscored the Prairie Stars 16-4 on fast-break points and 24-13 off turnovers.
Lindenwood outrebounded UIS 37-23. The Lions put together an 11-3 advantage on offensive rebounds, which helped create an 8-0 advantage on second-chance points.
UIS committed 16 turnovers while Lindenwood turned the ball over 14 times.
Lindenwood drained 37-of-63 (58.7 percent) shots from the floor. UIS still managed to post a 46.8-percent (22-of-47) shooting clip for the first time since Jan. 11, 2018.
The Prairie Stars knocked down 9-of-19 (47.4 percent) shots from the perimeter while the Lions hit 10-of-23 (43.5 percent) shots from downtown.
UIS managed to find the free-throw line 29 times and capitalized on 23 (79.3 percent) attempts. The Lions made 7-of-15 (46.7 percent) shots from the charity stripe.
UIS entertains Purdue University Northwest (1-1) on Nov. 24 at 1 p.m. in TRAC. The two teams recently clashed on Nov. 10, in which the Pride hit the go-ahead shot with one second remaining to earn a 71-70 victory.
