The University of Illinois Springfield men's basketball team fell in day two of the Prairie Stars Tipoff Classic. The Prairie Stars lost to Hillsdale by a 73-62 margin.

Hillsdale outscored the Prairie Stars 13-2 in the final 3:30 of the first half and took a 39-29 lead into halftime. UIS came out strong in the second half, and quickly got within one point. The offense cooled off though over the final 15 minutes, and Hillsdale was able to escape with the win.

Hillsdale made 46.7 percent of its three-pointers and finished with 10 made shots from beyond the arc. UIS made nine three-pointers and shot 36.8 percent from the field for the game. UIS grabbed five more rebounds, including having 13 offensive boards. Hillsdale had just eight turnovers though and shot 46.3 percent from the field.

Peyton Allen just missed a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds.
Gilwan Nelson had 18 points and
Aundrae Williams chipped in with 10.
Daniel Soetan and
Cole Harper both had double-figure rebounds, and Soetan had team-highs of two assists and two steals.
Allen and Nelson were named to the all-tournament team at the Prairie Stars Tipoff Classic. Allen had 42 points in the two-day eventm and also grabbed 15 rebounds. Nelson had 40 points in the two games, and made all nine three-pointers that he attempted.

UIS improves to 1-1 on the season. The Prairie Stars will compete in the Fairfield Inn Classic in Warrensburg, Mo. next weekend.
