The University of Illinois Springfield volleyball program won its 22nd match on Tuesday with a 23-25, 25-17, 27-25, 24-26, and 15-12 victory at Missouri-St. Louis. That win total matches the program's top victories mark since moving to the NCAA level.

The match was close with three sets being decided by the minimum two points, and the fifth set being decided by three points. One of the biggest turning points was in the third set when the Prairie Stars faced two set points, but fought back for the win. UIS scored five out of the six points after being down 24-22.

In the final set, the two teams were tied at seven when the Prairie Stars pulled away with a 5-0 run.
Alyssa Hasler gave UIS the lead with a kill, and then
Alli Splitt recorded three straight blocks, twice with an assist from
Rachel Cobert and once with help from
Megan Krasowski. That defense led to an unforced error by the Tritons for the fifth straight point. Missouri-St. Louis cut the lead to two at 14-12, but Tiffany Wenworth ended the match with a kill.

The Prairie Stars' defense recorded 100 digs and 17 blocks against the Tritons, which helped hold Missouri-St. Louis to just .153 hitting for the night.
Jailyn Borum had 41 digs, followed by Wentworth with 18, Cobert with 12, and Krasowski with 10.
Alyssa Hasler had a team-high 11 blocks, Krasowski had seven, and Cobert and Splitt each had six.

Offensively, UIS had 66 kills, with Wentworth had 50 assists on those kills. Splitt had 20 kills, the second time this season that a Prairie Star player had 20 or more kills. Hasler had 13 kills and a team-high .462 hitting percentage. Cobert and
Taylor Bauer also had double-figure kills.

UIS improves to 22-6 overall and 13-3 in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars next travel to Southern Indiana on Friday night.
