SPRINGFIELD, IL – McKendree University shot past the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) men's basketball team in a 74-59 victory during Monday's Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) matchup.

The Bearcats (11-6, 2-5) drained 47.4 percent (27-of-57) of shots from the field while the Prairie Stars (12-5, 4-3) were limited to a 36.9-percent (24-of-65) shooting effort.

McKendree was also fortunate to find the free-throw line 23 times. The Bearcats converted on 15 (65.2 percent) tries. McKendree committed just nine fouls, which allowed UIS to see the charity stripe just six times. UIS hit four (66.7 percent) of its attempts.

Eddie Longmeyer recorded a double-double, as he led the Prairie Stars with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Gilwan Nelson provided nine points, four assists and two blocks.
Aundrae Williams also scored nine points.
Logan Gonce turned in seven points.
Lijah Donnelly added six points.
Vince Walker and
Brandon Van Sant contributed five points each, while
Zach Steinberg rounded out the UIS scoring effort with two points.

Nate Bethel posted a double-double with a game-high 17 points as well as 10 rebounds. Nolan Gerling netted 13 points. Justin Blanks and Giovanni Offard each produced 10 points. Offard also collected three steals. Malcolm Mabry pulled down a team-high 11 rebounds.

The Bearcats beat the Prairie Stars 43-36 on the boards as well as 11-0 on second-chance points.

UIS drained 7-of-21 (33.3 percent) shots from 3-point range while McKendree sank 5-of-15 (33.3 percent) of shots from the perimeter.
McKendree ;ed 29-21 at halftime and outscored UIS 45-38 in the second half.

The Prairie Stars close out the week with a road GLVC matchup with Maryville University (13-3, 5-2) on Saturday at 3 p.m. in St. Louis, MO.
