Supak and Bagur Finish T-6 at Music City Regional

NASHVILLE, TN --- The Illinois Springfield men's golf team tied for 10th place at the Music City Regional in Old Hickory, Tennessee in a field of 24 teams. The regional tournament is crucial in qualifying for the post-season and UIS moved up from 15th to 11th in the regional rankings with their 10th place finish. The Prairie Stars were led by Talon Supak and Louis Bagur who each finished T-6 in the 120-player field.

As a team, the Prairie Stars shot a 297 on the first day, putting them in 10th place and followed with a 295 on day two, gaining one stroke on Drury University to tie. Trevecca Nazarene and Maryville each jumped UIS after the final round.

Individually, Supak shot a two-over 74 on the first day and followed with a bogey-free two-under 70 on the final day for a 144 total. Bagur carded back-to-back even-par 72's on the weekend to tie his senior teammate. Bagur bagged his second top-ten finish this season while Supak finished in the top-ten for the fifth time.

Erik Thulien finished T-79 with scores of 75 and 78 for a 153 total while Mitch McCafferty finished two-strokes back after carding a 76-79 for a 155 total and T-88 finish. Trevor Flota rounded out the UIS scoring with an 82 on the first day before shaving seven strokes for a final round 75 and 157 total for a T-95 finish.

McCafferty was T-3 in the entire field in par-three scoring on the weekend, playing the par-threes at even par. Supak played the par-fours even par while Bagur led the entire field in par-five scoring at an incredible five-under par, which included an eagle on the par-five eighth hole.

UIS now ranks 11th in the region in which you normally need to be in the top-ten to be considered for the post-season. The Prairie Stars will play two more tournaments with a similar field in which they will have a great chance to continue moving up the rankings. Their next tournament will be the Midwest Regional hosted by the University of Indianapolis in Noblesville, Indiana on April 9-10.
