SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (29-21, 15-11) improved their season-long winning streak to 9 games with a sweep of Missouri S&T (19-30, 11-15). Illinois Springfield concluded their weekend sweep with a 4-2 victory in game one before closing out with a 5-2 win in the finale.
GAME ONE: ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD 4, MISSOURI S&T 2
Erin Stroup got things rolling early in the day for UIS, plating the days first run in the second inning with a single to right center, scoring
Haley Inman. Missouri S&T came back and tied things in the bottom of the third but in the fourth,
Alexa Brown retook the lead for UIS with an RBI double, scoring Stroup.
Ali Haesele added to the lead later in the fourth with a sacrifice fly, scoring Brown. Later,
Morgan Edwards made the score 4-1 with an RBI groundout, scoring
Amanda Gosbeth.
Haesele (16-6) surrendered a run in the final inning but picked up her 16
th win as
Jaycee Craver came in to finish the game, picking up her third save of the season. Haesele threw six innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on eight hits and struck out five. Craver tossed the final inning and allowed one hit and struck out one.

Katie Wooldridge had two hits each while Haesele, Edwards, Brown, and Stroup each drove in a run.
GAME TWO: ILLINOIS SPRINGFIELD 5, MISSOURI S&T 2
Both teams came out firing in game two, each plating two runs in the first inning. UIS capitalized on a Miner error, scoring two unearned runs before Missouri S&T tied things up in the bottom half.
Both pitchers settled in after the first as nobody scored again until the sixth inning when UIS plated three runs to take control of the game. Stroup was hit by a pitch and stole second to lead off the inning and came into score on a double from
BriAnna Edgar. Back-to-back singles scored another run for UIS as Haesele picked up another RBI before
Allison Rose scored Inman on a pinch hit sacrifice fly.
Craver (9-9) finished off her gem, throwing a complete game and allowing just two runs (one earned) on six hits. The sophomore struck out four batters and walked none.
???????Haesele was the lone Prairie Star to pick up multiple hits, going 2-for-4 with a run and RBI while
Lakyn Wagoner, Edwards, and Edgar each drove in a run each.
UIS has now won nine straight games, the longest such streak in program history. The record was previously seven consecutive games, done in both the 2012 and 2016 seasons. After falling in their first three games of a 12-game road trip, UIS won their last nine and will return home for their final four games of the regular season.
The Prairie Stars are currently in sixth place in the GLVC, in which the top eight teams qualify for the GLVC Tournament.
