JACKSONVILLE, IL -- The Prairie Stars competed in their final tune-up prior to the Great Lakes Valley Conference at the Illinois College Alumni Meet, making their third trip to Jacksonville this season. The meet was highlighted by
Lexi Yoggerst and
Olivia Rohr, who each won their respective events, Yoggerst in the 400m and Rohr in the 800m. Yoggerst bested the previous record in the 400m, finishing in under a minute for the first time in school history (59.85). Rohr also ran a personal best in the 800m, racing to a first-place finish in 2:29.86.
Along with Rohr and Yoggerst, three others raced to personal best as well:
Rachael Crowley (800m), Maddie Logsdon (800m), and
LeeNaya Brewer (200m). Crowley finished in 8th place overall with a time of 2:36.96 which set a PR by three seconds. Logsdon finished just behind her teammate, taking 10th place in 2:44.81.
In the 200m dash, Brewer took 20th with a time of 30.43, breaking her previous PR by half a second.
Aeriel Storey also competed in the 200m, racing to a 12th place finish out of 22 runners with a time of 28.33. Storey also competed in the 60m dash, taking 15th with a time of 8.34.Â
In the shotput, Kailtlin Zimmerman took 13th of 17 with a throw of 10.13m (33'3"). Brewer also threw in this event, finishing 17th with a throw of 8.10m (26'7").
Both
Haley Kerpan and
Hannah Roberts competed in the mile run, finishing 13th and 25th, respectively. Kerpan recorded a time of 5:47.86 while Roberts came in at 6:38.65.Â
UIS had four runners compete in the 800m, led by
Krissy Finley who took 7th of 12 overall with a time of 2:34.89. She was followed closely by
Rachael Crowley who took 8th in the event with a time of 2:36.96, a new PR.
Alexandria Quarton took 9th, finishing in 2:39.86 while Logsdon took 10th overall with a time of 2:44.81.Â
Overall, UIS broke one school record and set four personal records.
"The ladies did a solid job competing against some of the top complete Division III teams in our area --- Washington University in St. Louis and Illinois Wesleyan are perennial top-five teams at the Division III nationals," said head coach Mike DeWitt. "It was a good final indoor meet for many of the ladies and a great tune-up for our GLVC group this upcoming weekend."
PRAIRIE STAR NOTES: Finley and Yoggerst will be competing in the open 800m as well as being a part of the distance medley relay and the 4x400 relay ... Rohr and Kerpan finalize the two relay teams ... the final declarations will not be in until Tuesday or Wednesday.Â
