Career-High 25 from Longmeyer Fuels Prairie Stars to Victory

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (2-2) won their second straight game Friday night, besting Robert Morris-Peoria (0-3) by a score of 100-80. Eddie Longmeyer scored a career-high 25 points and recorded his first double-double of the season with ten rebounds to lead the Prairie Stars to the 20-point win.

Zach Steinberg added 19 points and nine rebounds in the win, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor, while also dishing three assists. Five Prairie Stars reached double-figures, including another 16-point from freshman guard Aundrae Williams, who also had a team-high six assists. Liah Donnelly scored 12 points and Brandon Van Sant added 11 points and three assists.

As a team, UIS shot 48.7 percent from the field and hit their season average of seven three's. However, UIS dished out 27 total assists on 37 total baskets.

Defensively, UIS forced 19 turnovers from the Eagles, totaling 12 steals on the night. Williams led the way with four steals while Longmeyer, Logan Gonce, and Collin Stallworth each had two each.

The Prairie Stars led by as much as 24 in the second half as time was winding down, and reached the century mark for the first time in just over a year, as UIS put up 100 against Robert Morris-Springfield on November 16th of last year.

Longmeyer's night of 25 points and 10 rebounds is the first of its kind since Zach Steinberg put up those numbers against Governors State last year on December 6th.

Williams has now poured in 36 points over his last two games, while Longmeyer has totaled 49 points, 17 rebounds, and six assists in his last two outings.

UIS will return to the court Saturday to take on Division I opponent and Missouri Valley Conference member, Southern Illinois University. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM and the game will be available via ESPN 3, radio, or live stats.
