Prairie Stars Travel as Midway Point in GLVC Approaches

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars (4-4, 4-2) will hit the road as the half way point in the conference schedule nears. UIS currently sits in sixth place in the GLVC, but has only played one of the five teams in the conference standings. The Prairie Stars will look to continue rising in the standings as they travel to Wisconsin – Parkside and Lewis this weekend for games beginning at 12:00 pm on both days.

SETTING THE SCENE
With their 4-1 win last week over Saint Joseph's, the Prairie Stars matched their win total from the 2015 season, notching their fourth on the season and in GLVC play. After losing their first two games of the season, two nonconference affairs, the Prairie Stars have yet to allow a goal following a loss.

Following a 3-2 loss to Auburn Montgomery, UIS shut out Quincy and then after a 1-0 loss to UMSL, the Prairie Stars shut out Maryville.

UIS is 1-2 in true road games this year while Parkside owns a 2-1-1 home record and Lewis a 1-2 mark in such games.

ALL IN ON ALLEVI
Senior Zach Allevi has done his best to make his senior year a memorable one, notching five goals and an assist so far in the season. The five goals put him tied for 2nd in the GLVC, one behind the leader. His 11 points rank him in the top-ten individually.

Coming into the season with five career goals for UIS, Allevi is now tied atop the career record books with 10 goals, doing so in just a year and a half.

PRAIRIE STAR NOTES
UIS has notched 16 goals this season, ranking them fifth in the GLVC. The Prairie Stars are one of seven teams that have recorded over 100 shots on the season with 46 of those going on target.

In conference play, UIS owns a +1.34 scoring margin, third best in the GLVC. Their 13 in conference goals also rank third as they allow less than a goal per game in GLVC contests.

Jack Coombes has tallied two game-winning goals this season, both in conference play, making him one of six individuals in the entire conference with more than one to his name.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
The Rangers (3-4-1, 1-4-1) enter the weekend in 12th place in the GLVC, having either lost or tied five of their last six matches. They are though, coming off a 2-1 win over Bellarmine, giving them their one conference win.

Lewis (1-7, 0-6) currently sits in last place in the GLVC, falling in their first six conference games of the year. After securing a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa in the second game of the year, Lewis has scored just three goals in their next six games. They have been shut out in three consecutive games, losing two of those games 1-0 in double overtime.

COMING UP NEXT
The Prairie Stars will return home next weekend for games against Drury and Missouri S&T. These games will take place over Homecoming weekend at UIS with the Friday night game having a 7:30 pm kickoff and Sunday's game beginning at 2:30 pm.
