SPRINGFIELD, IL --- Coming off a dominating 4-1 victory against Saint Joseph's, the Prairie Stars were looking at overtime with the Greyhounds before the visitors put in a goal with three seconds remaining on the clock to take the game 2-1.
Playing on the UIS Practice Field, the two teams battled to a scoreless first half before UIndy broke the tie with a goal in the 67
th minute. The Prairie Stars didn't waste much time coming back, netting the equalizer six minutes later.
Alejandro Inostroza tied the game with his first goal of the year. The senior from Santiago, Chile ripped a free kick, beating the UIndy keeper to tie the game with 17 minutes remaining.
With UIS staring their first overtime game of the season in the eyes, the Greyhounds were able to put the game-winning goal in with just three seconds remaining on the clock. The crushing defeat marked the third time this season that UIS has given up a game-winning goal after the 85
th minute.
Tommy Geile made eight saves for UIS as the team moved to 4-4, 4-2 on the season.
The Prairie Stars will look to rebound from the loss as they hit the road to face Wisconsin – Parkside and Lewis University next weekend.
