Prairie Stars Shutout Maryville on the Road

ST. LOUIS, MO --- The Prairie Stars got back to their winning ways on Sunday afternoon by going down to St. Louis and shutting out Maryville University (2-3, 0-3) by a score of 2-0 to move to 3-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. With the win, Illinois Springfield, (3-3, 3-1) has already eclipsed their GLVC win total from a year ago with 13 more conference games remaining.

Josh Moore, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, got the scoring going early with his first goal of the season in the 17th minute. Harry Hiscock took the assist on the goal, feeding Moore from inside the box for the easy score.  It was Moore's first goal and Hiscock's first assist of the season.

Seven minutes later, UIS struck again, this time from Mario Falsone, to make the score 2-0. Moore took the assist on the second goal of the game, his first of the season, while the goal was Falsone's second of the year.

The Prairie Stars held onto the two-goal advantage and cruised to their third conference win on the season, eclipsing their two wins from last season.

In net, Tommy Geile recorded his second shutout of the season, turning away two shots on the day, both in the second half. Both teams put eight shots up, though UIS saw six go on target opposed to Maryville's two.

UIS will return home next week to face Saint Joseph's on Friday before closing with UIndy at home on Sunday.
