QUINCY, IL --- After a thrilling 1-0 victory in 11 innings, the Prairie Stars took care of the Hawks in game two by a score of 9-4. The offense came alive in the second game as UIS rallied behind two homeruns from

Amanda Gosbeth. UIS has now won their last five games and will travel to Truman State with a record of 8-10 and 2-0 in the conference.
GAME ONE: UIS 1, QUINCY 0In a game of two dominating pitching performances, it was freshman,
Jaycee Craver that came out victorious after throwing an 11 inning shut out to pick up the win for the Prairie Stars. Craver gave up just four hits in her 11 innings, striking out seven and walking just two.
On offense, UIS scattered five hits in the game and drew five more walks but weren't able to score until the top of the 11
th. UIS had four scoring chances through the first ten innings but finally broke through in the 11
th. After a one out single from Miller,
Ashli King walked to put runners at first and second. Gosbeth popped out to first base which led to an
Alexa McClaughry single to left, scoring Miller and giving UIS the lead.
As she had all day, Craver came out and threw a 1-2-3 inning to secure the victory, the sixth time she had a perfect inning in the game.
GAME TWO: UIS 9, QUINCY 4Game two was much less dramatic as the Prairie Stars took control right from the beginning.
Madi Torry drew a walk in the first and moved to second on a single from Miller. Gosbeth continued her monster week with a single to left, scoring Torry and giving the Prairie Stars a 1-0 lead.
In the second,
Molly Manietta drove a two-run homerun to left field, scoring
Rachel Goff who led off the inning with a double to right center. With UIS up 3-0, Quincy was forced to switch pitchers after
Jordyn Larsen doubled with one out. King singled in Larsen later in the inning to push the score to 4-0.
Quincy was able to push across a run in the bottom of the third but Miller erased that in the top of the fifth with a solo shot to left center.
In the following inning,
BriAnna Edgar started the rally with a single to left before Larsen hustled out an infield single, putting runners at first and second. Miller then put the game out of reach with her second homerun in as many innings, this one a three-run blast to left field making the score 8-1.
Quincy scored their final three runs via the homerun but it was too little too late as UIS improved to 2-0 in the GLVC.
