UIS Falls to Defending National Champions North Georgia

KISSIMEE, FL --- The Prairie Stars opened up a five-game trip in Kissimmee, Florida by facing defending national champions and number one ranked, North Georgia. The Prairie Stars (1-4) fell to the Nightwawks 8-0, who picked up their sixth straight victory.

Jaycee Craver took the circle, looking for her second win of the season but surrendered five runs in the second inning as North Georgia took control. The Nighthawks collected six hits in the inning and capitalized on one Prairie Star error during the rally.

In the bottom half of the second inning, Alisha King led off and reached base via a hit-by-pitch and with two outs, Amanda Gosbeth reached on an error, putting runners at first and second. Jordyn Larson struck out on a 3-2 pitch to end the inning and the threat.

North Georgia tagged on another run in the third and two more in the fifth on a two-run homerun to push the score to 8-0, where it became final.

The Prairie Stars had five baserunners on the day, two from walks and three via hit-by-pitch. Brittany Miller was the victim twice, giving her two on the season, a stat in which she led the GLVC in last year.

UIS will play Queens College, who open their season today, and Rollins College (3-2-1) tomorrow at 12 and 2:30 pm CST.
