Harmon’s Career-High Not Enough as UIS Falls to Glenville State

GLENVILLE, WV – The Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars (5-6, 0-2) played their final regular season game of the 2016 calendar year and fell to Glenville State (3-4) by a score of 92-79. Paxton Harmon hit 5-of-8 from deep en route to a game-high and career-high 19 points but it wasn't enough as UIS fell to the Pioneers in their third true road game of the season.

After an opening basket from the Pioneers in the first possession, Brandon Van Sant made a layup and connected for the old-fashioned three-point play to give UIS the early lead. After a three from Glenville State, Zach Steinberg tied it up at five with a layup but UIS would not regain the lead as Glenville State maintained a single-digit lead the entire first half.

The Prairie Stars trailed by as much as nine in the opening half but went into the half down seven after hitting their final two shots, which included a three from Vince Walker.
Harmon connected for his second three of the night to cut the deficit to 11 with 15:38 remaining and then hit his third of the night 90 seconds later. Harmon continued his hot shooting with his final two threes of the night to cut the Glenville State lead to just eight with 8:45 to go.

That's as close as it would get though, as the Pioneers extended their lead to 19 and took the game 92-79.

Harmon scored a career-high 19 points and added five rebounds in the loss while Zach Steinberg recorded his third consecutive and seventh overall double-double. Eddie Longmeyer had a game-high seven assists --- which matches his season high --- and did so for the third straight game to go along with 15 points on 5-of-9 from the field. Kaj Days reached double-figures for the third time in four games, scoring 10 points.

UIS will now enter a two-week period with no games and will return to the court on New Year's Eve to face Division I opponent Northern Illinois in their third and final exhibition game of the year. UIS has played Northwestern (89-52) and Bradley (70-55) in exhibitions this year as well.

The Prairie Stars will return to regular season games on January 5th when they begin their full slate of GLVC games against Truman State for a 7:30 PM tip.
