Prairie Stars Fall to Kentucky Wesleyan in Non-Conference Affair

SPRINGFIELD, IL --- The Prairie Stars returned home after their second road game of the season and fell to Kentucky Wesleyan (7-2) by a score of 88-63. Lijah Donnelly scored a career-high 19 points and had five assists while Brandon Van Sant and Paxton Harmon each netted 11 points.

The Panthers began the game with a four-point play on their first possession and never trailed for the remainder of the game, beginning the game with a 12-2 run to take an early lead.

Van Sant began with four early points for the Prairie Stars to make the score 20-11, concluding the run with a dunk off a pass from Eddie Longmeyer. Zach Steinberg closed the gap from 12 to nine with a three with 10:55 to go in the half before a 10-0 run from the Panthers pushed the score to 33-14.

The Prairie Stars went into the half trailing 57-34 after the Panthers shot 50 percent from the field, including an 8-of-16 effort from deep. The visitors had nine offensive rebounds and ended the game with 19 offensive boards.

Donnelly had ten points in the second half alone and ended the night with a career-high 19 points and eight rebounds. Longmeyer had a team-high seven assists which is also a career-high for him. Van Sant's 11 points were a career-high as well for the freshman.

The Prairie Stars will return home on Wednesday as they take on Harris-Stowe State University in another non-conference game at 7:00 PM.
